About Krombacher in Iraq
Krombacher is one of Germany’s leading independent breweries – family-owned since 1803, brewed in the same Sauerland village for more than two centuries and exported to over 40 countries. In 2026 Krombacher is launching a Phase 1 partner program for Iraq and is selecting exclusive trade partners for the Kurdistan Region, Baghdad, Basra and for nationwide hospitality. The program is led by Krombacher 0,0% for retail and hospitality; alcoholic beer is supplied only through licensed channels where the law permits it.
Iraq’s beer market amounts to around 1.5 million hectolitres a year, with imports accounting for roughly 60 per cent. Alcohol-free beer is widely accepted in retail, restaurants and cafés, while alcoholic beer is limited to licensed outlets, above all in the Kurdistan Region and in licensed international hotels. Krombacher brings the German Reinheitsgebot of 1516 and its own protected water source, Felsquellwasser®, into this category.
The portfolio for Iraq
Krombacher 0,0% leads the portfolio – alcohol-free, brewed according to the Reinheitsgebot and suitable for retail, restaurants, cafés and hotels. For licensed channels only, the Phase 1 portfolio also includes Krombacher Pils, Germany’s best-selling premium pils, Krombacher Hell (the smooth lager) and Krombacher Weizen (Bavarian-style wheat beer).
