About Krombacher in South Africa
Krombacher is one of Germany’s leading independent breweries — family-owned since 1803, brewed in the same Sauerland village for over two centuries, and exported to more than 40 countries. In 2026, Krombacher is opening a Phase 1 partner program for South Africa, selecting exclusive trade partners across Gauteng, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and a national hospitality network.
South Africa’s beer market — valued at over R70 billion annually and growing at 3–4% CAGR — is splitting into a maturing mainstream segment and a fast-growing premium imported beer category. Krombacher enters this category with the German Reinheitsgebot purity law of 1516 and our own protected water source, Felsquellwasser®.
Portfolio for South Africa
Krombacher Hell (5.0% ABV) is the flagship natural lager. The Phase 1 portfolio is rounded out by Krombacher Pils (the classic German pilsner), Krombacher Weizen (Bavarian-style wheat beer), and Krombacher 0,0%, the alcohol-free expression for South Africa’s growing no-and-low segment.
