Maturation (Lagerung)

“Lager” comes from the German verb lagern — to store. Krombacher gives its beer a long, cold maturation before it is filtered and filled.

What happens during maturation

Cold storage lets the beer settle and clarify, rounds out the flavour, and allows natural carbonation to integrate. The result is the smooth, balanced character Krombacher is known for.

Time as an ingredient

Maturation cannot be rushed. Giving the beer enough time is one of the five quality principles on every Krombacher label.
