The Four Ingredients: Water, Malt, Hops & Yeast

Under the Reinheitsgebot, Krombacher beer is made from just four ingredients — each chosen with care.

Water — Felsquellwasser®

Our own protected, naturally soft rock-spring water; more than 90% of the beer and the basis of its clean taste.

Malt

Malted barley (and wheat for Weizen) provides the fermentable sugars, body and colour of the beer.

Hops

Fine aroma hops give bitterness, aroma and natural preservation — balancing the malt.

Yeast

Fresh, single-use yeast converts the sugars into alcohol and carbon dioxide, shaping the beer’s character.
